Job Description

JOB PURPOSE 

The purpose of the role is to identify opportunities and develop and implement marketing plans to achieve the Merchants marketing strategy.

KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS

Implementation of marketing plan

Assists with the development of a comprehensive marketing strategy that will meet the strategic objectives of the organisation.
Ensures that all marketing initiatives in relation to the strategy are executed, this includes and is not limited to Digital marketing, sponsorships, content marketing, email marketing, campaign management, PR and events
Assists with the development and implementation of go-to-market plans that will be used to target existing and potential markets and clients.
Contributes to the development of marketing collateral for bids and proposals.
Conducts market research on target markets, competitors and existing and potential clients. They use the information that they have gathered from their research to inform their marketing activities

Budget Management

Assists with the development and management of a marketing budget and ensures that all marketing initiatives are delivered within the budget

Digital Marketing

Coordinates the design, creation and implementation of materials for website content and online advertising campaigns.
Advises on the development and implementation of strategies for utilising social media tools to promote Merchants in the marketplace
Maintains good knowledge and awareness of best practices and prevailing developments in web technologies, standards and requirements and apply these to promote continuous improvement and maximise exploitation of electronic media opportunities
Ensures that digital content is analysed, including usage trends and statistics, and ensure that usability reviews are conducted to recommend aligned improvements
Ensures the co-ordination, writing and maintenance of the site content, ensuring compliance with all legislation, policies and standards, supporting the achievement of the websites objectives.
Ensures that new content is developed and that current content on the website is updated.

Campaign / Event Management and Sponsorships

Ensures the necessary sales enablement components feature prominently in all relevant marketing activities.
Contributes to ensuring that all marketing activities related to sales enablement are delivered through existing and recommended channels.

Project Management

Contributes to the co-ordination and coherence of on-line projects with the overall marketing strategy and actions to promote the Merchants brand.
Collaborates with internal teams to finalise project deadlines and ensures the co-ordination of production through final approval.
Manages and prioritises the information load distributed to Marketing teams, ensures the co-ordination of the daily flow of marketing activity information to teammates.
Collaborates with internal and external vendors and suppliers to ensure the co-ordination and delivery of content, tools and materials within the required time and specification.
Ensures that existing tools, processes, standards for internal and external communication are leveraged.

People Management

Ensures the development of key capability to deliver departmental objectives
Recruits and manages direct reports to ensure the Merchants brand remains the employer of choice
Provides guidance and support to direct reports to ensure a culture of transparency and collaboration
Identifies strengths and areas for development in direct resources to ensure appropriate allocation of tasks
Establishes, manages and measures achievable, specific and realistic goals for direct reports
Ensures direct reports receive opportunities for development

Qualifications

• Minimum matric or equivalent NQF
• 5-8 years Marketing Management experience
• 2 years digital marketing experience
