Job Description

General Purpose

The Laboratory Supervisor is responsible for the overall administration of the QC laboratory to including: Training of lab personnel, monitoring of QA/QC programs in effect, maintenance of laboratory records, scheduling and prioritizing sample testing duties, and generating reports. 

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

 

  • Review and approve LSR’s and B# reports, as well as other lab documents
  • Provide technical support to lab personnel and assigns duties
  • Communicate with sales, operations, QC and other departments
  • Originate and implement lab SOP’s, analytical methods and directs R&D activity
  • Train and oversee all lab personnel
  • Perform QA/QC on all samples for incoming waste
  • Log all results into computer data base and/or logbooks
  • Maintain all lab equipment
  • Operate the lab in a safe and efficient manner
  • Maintain inventory control of supplies
  • Continually grow knowledge of laboratory information and expertise
  • Properly log and perform all checks, standards and calibrations
  • Occasional over-time and weekend work
  • Use of company-provided personal protective equipment is required
  • Create and implement SOP and work instructions for laboratory and equipment
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications:                 

 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • 3+ years of prior laboratory experience.
  • At least 21 years of age 
  • Ability to occasionally lift and carry up to 50 lbs. 
  • Ability to stand, bend, and walk for extended periods of time 
  • Willing and able to wear company-provided personal protective equipment (PPE) such as hard hat, eye protection, foot protection, Tyvek coveralls, and respirator (as needed) 
  • Able to pass a company physical, drug test, and background check 
  • Willingness and ability to work safely in a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals.
  • Physically agile and dexterous and undeterred by adverse climatic conditions

 

  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • 3+ years’ experience in hazardous waste
  • Possess a valid driver’s license
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Knowledge of RCRA, DOT and DEA Regulations as they relate to waste characterization and the transportation of hazardous waste
  • 40-hour Hazwoper and 8-hour refresher certifications
  • Supervisory experience
  • Ability to manage/prioritize several tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook, and Power Point
