Job Description

General Purpose

Provides timely response of customer inquiries up to and including pick-ups, schedules, product orders, and all other aspects of a customer’s needs.  Dispatches vehicles on a pre-set route for each CSR on a daily basis in the interest of efficient customer service.

Primary Responsibilities (Essential Functions):

  • Assist walk-in customers as needed.
  • Build routes for drivers on a daily basis, including but not limited to shipping documents, route sheets, and barcode labels
  • Dispatch drivers for extra or missed pick-ups, and ensure that routes are balanced on a daily basis
  • Assistant Customer Service with customer requests, route changes, and rescheduling for pickups/missed stops.
  • Monitor operations and work for all Customer Service Reps.
  • Review driver paperwork
  • Debrief drivers in accordance with written SOP’s
  • Schedule drivers to make deliveries and pick up material from customers.
  • Communicate initially with customers by phone to record details about shipments, arrange pick up times and discuss any special handling issues.
  • Send email reminders or phone reminders to customers the day prior to the pickup.
  • Communicate with drivers and customers to schedule shipment activities and perform administrative tasks to deliver high quality services for all clients.          
  • Printing/preparing all paperwork to include waste labels, Bill of Ladings, manifests, LDR’s, and shipping labels in accordance with DOT compliance.
  • Prepare truck load sheets for the shipping and receiving personnel to ensure trucks are loaded with proper supplies daily.
  • Responsible for ensuring that drivers receive any necessary documents before making a pickup.
  • Identify process problems and issues and make appropriate suggestions for corrective action plans.
  • Enter necessary data into the transportation calendar for scheduling inbound and outbound shipments. Update as needed.
  • Dispatch all inbound and outbound orders.
  • Enter required information regarding customer deliveries on the delivery board.
  • Communicate effectively with the transportation manager daily regarding daily tasks.
  • Generate PO requests in a timely manner.
  • Verify customer profiles have been completed and applied to the IBO’s generated prior to picking up the customers’ materials.
  • Depending upon daily workflow, you may be assigned other tasks necessary to aid in transportation.
  • Assist drivers with problems/issues as issues arise.
  • Create load sheets, prepare reviews all manifests. 
  • Monitor company policies and procedures and communicate to staff, as necessary.
  • In the absence of a manager/supervisor, monitor and ensure that employees are performing their functions safely and productively.
  • Perform other reasonably related tasks as assigned by management.

Qualifications

Basic Required Qualifications: 

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2+ years of customer service experience

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of related transportation/logistics experience preferred.
  • Knowledge of waste routing and disposal of Hazardous Materials.
  • Knowledge of DOT, EPA, and State Waste Regulations.
