Job Description

We are seeking a safety-minded individual who is well qualified in the field of heavy steel plate and weld repairs, working individually under the direction from a Maintenance supervisor.  As a member of the team you must be able, at a minimum, to communicate clearly, have strong organizational skills, perform basic weld repairs on heavy plate, perform your duties safely and efficiently, maintain a safe and clean work area, and possess the basic hand tools for the job.  In addition to these the ability to follow diagrams and weld symbols, measure, mark out, gas cut and tack weld projects.

Qualifications

Welding

  • Small fabrication projects following blueprints
  • Ability to measure and mark material for fabrication projects
  • Maintain stock of supplies required for the performance of these duties
  • Perform weld repair under direction on heavy steel 
  • Perform weld repairs under direction on heavy fabricated steel boxes
  • Perform minor weld repairs on processing plant and mobile plant equipment

Maintenance 

  • Repairs/replaces and fabricates parts for wear items as required.
  • Safely uses hand tools, power tools, calibration and measuring tools to complete job tasks.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Performs welding repairs as needed using arc, wire, tig and gas welds.
  • Uses cutting torches to cut and layout basic designs.
  • Performs accurate and timely data entry on all services performed.
  • Uses overhead crane and lifting apparatus.
  • Initiates purchase orders for parts.
  • Follows all safety rules and policies, immediately reporting any accident/incident, and assists in generating solutions to resolve issues.
  • Assists in training of co-workers as needed.
  • Assists with general clean-up of work area
