Job Description
Key Job Activities:
1) Using a “sprinter van”, pick up and transport waste safely according to all federal, state, and local rules and regulations. Label containers and complete pre-printed manifests / work orders. Schedule shipments into or off site.
2) Performs warehouse work related to receipt, shipment, storage, distribution, or delivery of waste materials. Loads, unloads, moves, or stores items according to delivery or routing documents, or supervisor instructions and performing general housekeeping duties.
3) Operates a hand truck, forklift, or other heavy equipment.
4) Classify, segregate, and inventory waste containers in storage for shipment. Conducts lab pack operations. Pack small laboratory containers of chemical waste into larger containers for shipment.
5) Performs various regulatory compliance and safety tasks including, but not limited to:
- Pre-trip inspections of vehicle
- Report all losses, spills, accidents, and safety violations to supervisor immediately.
- Resolve leaking containers/containers in non-DOT shippable condition.
6) Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Qualifications
Education and Experience Required (including certifications and/or software requirements for the position):
Education equivalent to a high school diploma and six months or more driving experience required.
Valid drivers license with Haz endorsement; some experience with a transport van preferred.
May require mandatory immunizations and credentialing based on customer requirements.
Demonstrates strong working knowledge of Environmental/Regulatory/DOT rules and regulations.
Demonstrates the ability to read a map.
May require forklift driver certification and six or more months of relevant experience.
Demonstrates excellent knowledge of various computer software applications including Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Maintains a current Medical Examiner’s Certificate (MEC) issued by a doctor approved by Stericycle.
Must work safely and carefully to prevent injury to self and others while driving, loading, and unloading vehicle.

Position requires the following physical requirements:
Balancing – ordinary locomotion and maintenance of body equilibrium frequently
Climbing – occasionally ascend or descend ladders, stairs, ramps and the like using feet and legs and/or hands and arms. Body agility is emphasized
Crouching – occasionally bend the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine
Fingering – frequently type with the fingers, and/or separate pages of documents, etc,
Grasping – constantly apply pressure to an object with the fingers and palm
Hearing – constantly perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction

Position requires extensive lifting, walking, bending, and pushing. Must be able to lift up to 55 pounds and push and/or pull carts weighing as much as 500 pounds.
The worker is subject to both environmental conditions. Activities occur inside and outside. The worker is subject to hazards. Includes a variety of physical conditions such as proximity to moving vehicles, electrical current, and exposure to chemicals. Use of company-provided personal protective equipment is required.
