Job Description

Harsco Rail is seeking a Sr. Project Manager for our Columbia, SC facility.

The position will be responsible for successfully executing 1 to 3 medium-to-large, complex projects ranging upwards of $10M+ with durations ranging from 6 months to multiple years. This position requires a change agent with a proven track record of managing complex, highly technical projects with heavy performance requirements and potential for large scopes to be outsourced to selected sub-vendors. The Sr. Project Manager will be expected to leverage their project management expertise to drive both superior execution but also contribute to strategy development around enhancing capabilities of the local teams and the PMO as a whole.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as primary customer-interface for assigned projects.
  • Develop & execute project schedules of varying complexity based on specific order needs & proposed solutions.
  • Drive all cross-functional activities & collaborate with functional leadership on all aspects of execution.
  • Successfully identify and mitigate schedule, cost, and technical risks.
  • Ultimate responsibility for ensuring projects meet contractual requirements in addition to expected budgets and schedule.
  • Be experienced leader with ability to mentor more junior members.

Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • 4-year Technical degree required, Engineering or Business preferred
  • Minimum of 7+ Years leading cross-functional teams on complex design and production projects in engineered-to-order environments, preferably with a large manufacturing component.
  • PMP/PRINCE certification

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

  • Proven track record managing project teams with engineering and production components across multiple sites
  • Exceptional cross-functional accountability with proven track record as a strong influencer and change agent.
  • Must possess leadership skills (taking initiative, motivating, mentoring), interpersonal skills (relating to others), dedication (taking ownership, meeting deadlines, prioritization), communication skills (strong written and verbal communications), flexibility, and have a positive attitude.
  • Knowledge of Rail industry preferred
  • Demonstrate abilities to perform in a metric driven environment.
  • A good understanding and experience with Earned Value Management.
  • Must be able to support occasional travel both international and domestic (up to 25%)
