Job Description

General Description:  Under general supervision is responsible for performing a variety of routine laboratory tests in support of production and R&D efforts.  Some travel is required.

Duties and Responsibilities:   The Harsco Lab Technician is responsible for assisting the Quality Dept. in the overall quality of all products produced at various Harsco sites by assisting or performing the following responsibilities:

  • Pre-qualification sampling/testing on new raw materials.
  • Performing in-line and final product testing.
  • Assisting in purchasing, cleaning and maintaining of all lab supplies and equipment.
  • Assisting with the upkeep of the Calibration system.
  • Assisting to maintain all quality records.
  • Perform sample preparation and shipment of samples to approved supplier laboratories.
  • Provide testing and analytical support of Metal and Aggregates sales at various sites.
  • Support in set-up and training of certified lab technicians/labs at any future DOT certified Aggregate sales sites.
  • 9. Other duties as necessary.

Qualifications

Level of education required:  Minimum - High School Diploma

Preferred – PennDOT Certified Aggregate Technician.  Some College is helpful in the chemistry or engineering fields.  Work related experience in the quarry, mineral or coal processing fields is helpful.  Work related experience as a lab technician is desired.  A statistics background and computer experience is needed.

Specific skills/experience needed:   Strong math, computer, and organizational skills are necessary.  Minimum 5 years work experience. Must be able to lift a minimum of 75 lbs.
