Database Administrator - Production & Development

DBA - Production & Development | London Market Insurance | up to £80K

A global specialist London Market underwriter is looking for a Database Administrator to join their growing team and take on the role of a Production DBA and Development DBA. The role is ideally suited to DBAs with a proven track record of working for London Market insurance underwriters.

Responsibilities

  • Configure and implement effective monitoring to ensure the good health of the SQL (SQL, SSRS, SSIS, SSAS) estate and respond to errors and warnings where appropriate
  • Provide front-line database administration and support for client facing applications
  • Participates in development, maintains, evaluates and documents administration of systems tools and related strategies
  • Implement effective security processes and procedures
  • Assist developers and other SQL users with the troubleshooting of SQL performance issues (working with internal and third party teams) where relevant
  • Ensure all databases servers are backed up in a way that meets the Recovery Point Objectives
  • Install and configure new SQL servers
  • Be responsible for SQL Server patching
  • Document and maintain details of the SQL Server estate
  • Administer and deploy database (and related) changes where required

Required experience & Competencies

  • SQL Server 2008 (R2), 2012, 2014 (SQL, SSIS, SSRS, SSAS)
  • TSQL Scripting
  • Performance Tuning
  • Strong analytical, problem solving approach.
  • Project and time management skills required – ability to multi-task and self-organise.
  • Clear communicator (verbal and written) with ability to explain complex issues clearly to a variety of audiences.
  • Team player, committed to sharing knowledge and further learning.
  • Ability to build and maintain good working relationships with all external, and internal, contacts.
  • Knowledge of key applications relating to SQL Server including Citrix / VM Ware
  • Lloyd's of London insurance market knowledge will be viewed favourably
