Company Description

We are looking for a Business and Planning Lead to join our Regulatory Services Unit and City Safe and Resilience Unit within our Customer and Community Group.  We are focused on making Hamilton a more attractive and liveable city, and this role will be responsible for leadership and continuous improvement across the two Units.

Job Description

As a Business and Planning Lead reporting to the Group Business Manager, you will provide high level advice and support across a range of functions and deliverables.

This type of role doesn’t come up often and provides a unique opportunity for someone to make a significant contribution not only to the organisation but also contribute to the future of Hamilton.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING:

  • Provide leadership and support to your team
  • Optimise the performance and productivity of the administration team
  • Actively support and develop positive and constructive relationships within the Regulatory Services Unit and City Safe and Resilience Unit and wider Group, Council staff and other key stakeholders
  • Liaise with various business units across council to ensure the effective delivery of organisational business priorities
  • Coordinate deliverables for the operations during the implementation of the annual and long-term plan
  • Prepare Council Papers and ad hoc reports as required
  • Lead Business improvement and transformation initiatives across the Units.
  • Develop and improve systems and processes, across the Units with an emphasis on simplification

Qualifications

ABOUT YOU:

  • Tertiary qualification in Business or Accounting preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience with an emphasis on strategic business decision making
  • An understanding and commitment to the principals of Te Tiriti O Waitangi
  • Proven Leadership experience 
  • Well developed communication skills including report writing capability.
