Hamilton City and Waikato District Councils have formed a publicly owned, Council-controlled Organisation (CCO) to deliver water services across Hamilton city and Waikato district. The company is called IAWAI - Flowing Waters and will take over the provision of water services from 1 July 2026. This transition will occur in stages such as the current Watercare contract for Waikato District Council transferring to the CCO on 1 July 2026.

We’re looking for a qualified electrician who enjoys solving problems, working on critical infrastructure, and seeing the impact of your work every day, this could be the role for you. As our Maintenance Electrician, you'll help keep essential water and wastewater services running by maintaining, repairing, installing, and commissioning electrical equipment and control systems across our infrastructure. Your work will directly support the safe and reliable delivery of services that our communities depend on.

Working alongside operational teams, contractors, and our Plants Maintenance team, you'll tackle a mix of planned maintenance, fault finding and minor works. No two days are the same, and you'll have the opportunity to use your technical expertise to identify issues, minimise downtime, and help improve asset performance across a range of sites.

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience 

• Fully qualified tradesperson with recognised New Zealand trade qualification.
• Electrical Practicing License.
• Having experience within process plants/control/ utility plants or related infrastructure
• Able to demonstrable knowledge and skills for electrical installation, maintenance and repair of electrical systems and equipment.
• Ability to be on-call and respond to events 
• Sound knowledge of electrical legislation, standards and safe work practices.
• Ability to interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
