Waterworld Te Rapa is our flagship aquatics centre and it offers something for everyone. With six pools including toddler and outdoor pools, hydroslides, a full-service gym, land and water-based exercise classes, learn to swim classes and more.
Job Description
He angituutanga: The opportunity
The Duty Manager is responsible for delivering all operational activities and routines at the facility, ensuring the safe supervision of customers, effective lifeguarding, water quality, and high standards of customer service at all times. This is a hands-on role, and you will be actively involved in lifeguarding duties alongside leading the team on shift.
You will take a strong health and safety focus, proactively identifying, communicating, and addressing hazards and risks to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our staff, customers, and facility.
Day to day, you’ll lead and support a team of lifeguards, ensuring they are confident, capable, and enabled to deliver outstanding service to our community. You will also be required to step into a lifeguarding capacity as needed to maintain safe pool operations.
This is a 16-hour per week role, working Sundays and Mondays, with shifts that may start as early as 5am or finish as late as 9:30pm, so flexibility is essential. Bringing energy, a positive mindset, and a sense of fun to the role is key.

NO technical experience is needed though it is preferred! To be successful you will be process orientated and able to follow daily routines and instructions. You will be able to deal calmly with any conflict situation, and have flexibility to adapt as situations arise - sometimes we have lots of balls in the air to juggle!
In addition, being friendly and approachable, having excellent communication skills, bringing a strong health and safety focus, and being accountable are the other key personal attributes we are looking for.
