As our Head of Facilities & Support, you’ll take strategic and operational ownership of Council’s vertical assets ensuring they are well-managed, sustainable, compliant, and aligned to long-term community outcomes.
As a leader within the Infrastructure and Assets Group, you will lead a small but high-performing team and oversee a significant operational budget, driving value, performance and long-term planning across the portfolio.
In this leadership role, you will:
- Lead and grow a high-performing, engaged team culture
- Oversee the performance and long-term planning of Council’s vertical facilities and buildings portfolio
- Deliver asset lifecycle management across planning, maintenance, renewal and optimisation
- Manage budgets, forecasting and identify cost efficiencies across vertical facilities operations
- Drive strong contract management, procurement and supplier partnerships
- Ensure vertical facilities are safe, compliant and well-maintained for staff and community use
- Provide strategic advice to internal stakeholders to support informed decision-making
- Strengthen collaboration across Council and external partners to deliver key programmes
- Champion best practice in asset management, sustainability and carbon reduction
- Ensure accurate asset data, valuations and condition assessments to support planning and investment decisions.

Qualifications
Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience
- Significant senior leadership experience (10+ years), ideally in facilities or asset management
- Strong experience in asset lifecycle management, planning and maintenance
- Proven ability to lead teams, drive performance and influence outcomes
- Strong financial management, forecasting and business acumen
- Experience across procurement, contract management and supplier relationships
- Knowledge of building systems, maintenance practices and safety requirements
- Ability to build trusted relationships across diverse stakeholders
- Demonstrated understanding of Te Tiriti o Waitangi principles
- Experience navigating complex environments and leading through change
- Relevant qualifications and project/programme certifications (e.g. PRINCE2, PMP) will be advantageous.
