Job Description

He angituutanga: The opportunity 

The Nursery Person will work in a team environment to achieve the production and dispatch of a diverse range of plants including Annuals, Perennials, Trees and Shrubs (Native and Exotic), to meet the needs of Council Planting requirements across the city. 

the role includes -

  • Work with the Nursery team to ensure bedding production and tree/shrub production targets are met.
  • Work with the wider Nursery team to assist in the Propagation.
  • Nursery stock to be kept pest and disease free by taking a proactive approach.
  • Nursery stock is kept weed free.
  • Nursery stock to be nourished and pruned to meet the required standard.
  • Assistance is given with seasonal workloads as required.
  • Contributes to special projects as required.

Qualifications

Oo puumanawa me oo wheako | Your skills and experience

  • Previous experience in a commercial Nursery
  • Excellent knowledge of Native plants and exotic trees and shrubs.
  • Knowledge of pest and diseases and the correct methods to control them.
  • Ability to prioritise workloads and work without supervision.
  • Work consistently to complete work schedules within deadlines.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently with team members.
  • Full Class 1 Drivers License.
  • Current GrowSafe Certificate would be desirable.
  • Experience with the use of potting machines.
  • Experience in pricking out seedlings.
  • Experience in bedding production.
  • Eco-sourcing experience.

Hourly rate $28.85 dependent on skills and experience.
