Job Description
He angituutanga: The opportunity
As the Financial Systems Manager, you’ll help Council’s systems run more smoothly, make smarter decisions, and embrace fresh ideas to meet future needs. You’ll lead a small team of five, including working closely with the Master Data Lead to build a solid setup for keeping data accurate and reliable, following Council’s strategy.
You’ll be someone your team looks up to, showing them better ways to work and helping them grow and perform at their best. It’s all about creating a positive vibe and delivering great results for the Finance Team and the whole organisation.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
- Keep Council’s financial processes in check, legal, and risk-free.
- Make sure the roadmap for financial systems lines up with Council’s strategy.
- Help shape and update financial systems to meet changing needs.
- Build an awesome team that knows their stuff when it comes to financial systems and data.
- Pitch in to improve the master data framework and financial data setup.
- Put standards and processes in place to keep data in tip-top shape and help the business take charge of their areas.
- Act as a key player in projects, ensuring financial and audit processes are consistently followed and compliance is maintained.
This is a 12-month fixed term opportunity until May 2026.

What you'll need:
- Have a Bachelor’s degree in business or accounting.
- At least 10 years of experience in accounting and systems.
- Experience contributing to change management at a high level.
- Sharp analytical skills and solid business instincts.
- Strong communication skills to connect with a wide range of people.
- A track record of successfully leading major projects or programs.
- The ability to work independently, stay ahead of the game, and manage your workload.
- Be a member of CAANZ (preferred but not essential)
Ideally, have worked in local government or a similarly complex environment (nice to have but not a deal-breaker).
