We’re looking for an experienced and proactive Environmental Policy Analyst with experience in the three waters space to join our Planning, Strategy and Programming team.
As our Environmental Policy Analyst, you will monitor and analyse external policy, legislation, and internal strategic issues which impact the waters business.
You will proactively implement improvements to internal strategies, policies, bylaws and processes. Through collaboration with iwi partners and key stakeholders you'll ensure that Council's water strategies align with strategic objectives.
Using your project management and planning experience you’ll provide support and advice to the broader waters team around the resource consent applications of our water activities (e.g. Wastewater Treatment Plants, Water Abstraction).
This is a varied role and on any given day you might be out around the business talking to stakeholders, writing reports and submissions or even presenting recommendations at elected member committees.

Qualifications

- 3+ years’ experience in water, wastewater or storm water policy analysis and development.
- Relevant tertiary qualification that includes study of environmental or policy analysis and planning.
- Advanced communication skills both verbally and written (including with technical information)
- You are an analytical and critical thinker that can approach situations from a non-biased position
- Thrive when you are organised and structured but still adaptable to changes
- Naturally curious - you seek information out from stakeholders and subject matter experts
- Respect differing opinions and values
