Job Description

Reporting directly to the Director of Strategy within the Office of Strategy Management, this position will be responsible for driving the successful design, execution and integration of complex, high-impact initiatives that are central to advancing Halton Healthcare’s strategic plan. The Lead works closely with the Executive Leadership Team and senior stakeholders to proactively identify opportunities, shape strategic initiatives, and ensure their alignment with organizational priorities. Through expert project leadership, strategic foresight, and strong relationship-building, the Lead, Strategic Initiatives plays a critical role in enabling organizational agility. The responsibilities are as follows:

  • Lead and support strategic initiatives by conducting environmental scans, benchmarking, industry analyses, and integrating emerging healthcare trends into program development.

  • Manage and deliver project work aligned with organizational priorities, including charters, schedules, budgets, risk plans, status reports, benefits realization studies, and small portfolios of work.

  • Develop, review, and edit project proposals, business cases, funding submissions, and related budgets, proactively identifying and pursuing funding opportunities.

  • Define and translate business and user needs into clear solution requirements through research, interviews, data analysis, and collaboration with subject matter experts.

  • Facilitate stakeholder engagement and communication—working with senior leadership, project sponsors, clinical and external partners (e.g., Ontario Health, Ministry of Health), and other departments—to drive project success.

  • Contribute to quality improvement and governance by recommending policy and process enhancements and supporting Executive Leadership Team activities.

  • Produce high-quality documentation and communications (presentations, meeting minutes, user guides, speaker remarks), translating complex concepts into concise, audience-appropriate language.

  • Assist the Director of Strategy and the Office of Strategy Management with strategic planning cycles, executive projects, and ad-hoc workload demands.

Qualifications

  • A Master’s degree in a related field required
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation strongly preferred
  • Significant experience monitoring external developments in healthcare, industry, and government
  • Strong understanding of the health system
  • Must be self-directed and able to make decisions based on best practice principles
  • Adept at developing strong visual presentations for executives and board committees
  • Explicit and concise writing skills/skilled at writing reports
  • Able to efficiently conduct research, statistical analysis, projections, comparisons and reports
  • Must be able to prioritize projects and possess excellent time management skills
  • Work well as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues skillfully
  • Proficient with MS Office Products
