Job Description

  • All duties related to daily workload in Cytology, not limited to accessioning, preparation of specimens including cell blocks, staining, coverslipping, screening and interpretation
  • Microscopic screening and interpretation of Non-Gyne specimens, and Gyne specimens for QA or other as required
  • Attending EBUS and ROSE procedures and assisting with rapid preliminary adequacy evaluation
  • Preparation and interpretation of samples for Flow Cytometry
  • Microscopic Interpretation of specimens for FISH
  • Participate and comply with all department quality assurance requirements
  • Assist with histotechniques, special stains and molecular testing as required

Qualifications

  • Current registration as a Cytotechnologist with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Ontario
  • Recent experience of 3 - 5 years in Cytopathology
  • Must have experience in EBUS and ROSE Techniques
  • Experience in FISH and molecular techniques an asset
  • Experience in Flow Cytometry Preparation and Interpretation an asset
  • Experience with routine automated histology equipment an asset
  • Experience with Histotechniques an asset
  • Ability to work effectively as a collaborative member of a team and independently
  • A positive attitude with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position 
  • Satisfactory employment and attendance record required

Additional Information

Status: Permanent Full-Time

Hours: Monday to Friday - 7.5 hour day shifts (Hours are subject to change based on operational requirements)

Salary: $36.840 to $50.240 per hour
