Job Description
We are seeking a creative and detail-oriented Digital Communications Specialist to produce engaging content that aligns with Halton Healthcare’s mission, vision, and values. The Digital Communications Specialist will play a key role in supporting Halton Healthcare’s digital media strategy. This role is responsible for managing all digital, website and social media channels, ensuring they reflect the organization's communications standards and objectives. The Digital Communications Specialist will maintain the website, social media platforms, and multimedia content, focusing on engaging, high-quality content production and execution.
This role is ideal for an independent and experienced digital specialist who excels in social media, video production, and editing. The ideal candidate is proactive, detail-oriented, and passionate about taking initiative. You will be responsible for creating clear, goal-driven content and managing owned channels, including day-to-day social media management and overseeing the production of videos and multimedia materials from concept through to completion.
Responsibilities:
- Support with the ideation of the Digital Communication Strategy, providing recommendations and insights
- Responsible for the execution of the Digital Communication Strategy, including the creation,, development and approval of all social media and web content (i.e. videos, photos etc.)
- Schedule and produce video content, including promotional videos, interviews, social media campaigns etc.
- Support growing social media accounts by scheduling posts, responding to comments and messages with brand narrative, and engaging with followers
- Organize and maintain media assets as required, including b-roll and photography that can be used by partners and traditional media
- Create and maintain a social media calendar including campaigns, awareness days, staff profiles
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and best practices in social media marketing
- Drive meaningful storytelling, engagement, and growth, for social media that can also be used by traditional media.
- Contribute to the development of content strategies, including supporting risk assessments and identifying strategies for digital communications.
- Contribute to the creation of an annual Digital Media plan and content calendar, ensuring alignment with the overall Communications Strategy.
- Apply a lens of Equity, Diversity and Inclusion in all digital communications
- Measure and evaluate the effectiveness of digital media activities
- Participate in rotation for monitoring social media
Qualifications
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in communications or public affairs related field, preferably in healthcare or government sectors.
- Strong skills in video production and editing, with a deep understanding of the technical aspects and creative processes involved.
- Proficient in managing social media platforms, with an in-depth knowledge of online engagement strategies. Familiarity with print and broadcast media is also important.
- Exceptional storytelling ability through a combination of words, images, audio, and video, with a clear understanding of how to create compelling content that inspires, engages, and educates.
- Superior project management skills, including the ability to juggle multiple projects and meet tight deadlines without compromising quality.
- Strong understanding of branding, visual identity, and design principles to ensure consistency across all digital platforms and materials.
- Excellent critical thinking skills and sound judgment to make informed decisions in dynamic situations.
- Ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization in a fast-paced, high-profile, and deadline-driven environment.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to foster effective relationships with both internal and external partners, including creative communications professionals.
- Highly articulate with strong verbal communication skills and the ability to present ideas effectively to diverse audiences
- Understanding of AODA (Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act) compliance standards for digital content.
- An understanding of Ontario’s healthcare sector and/or best practices in public sector communications would be an advantage in this position.
- Equipment operated on the job: computer, preferably Apple devices, Digital single-lens reflex (DSLR) Cameras
- Highly proficient in the use of Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro, InDesign), Social Tracking Tools (i.e. Hootsuite)
- Must have a valid Ontario driver’s license and a reliable insured vehicle to travel between all hospital sites.
Additional Information
Hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hour day shifts (hours subject to change based on operational needs of the organization)
Salary: $38.03 - $47.54 per hour
