Job Description

We’re passionate about our role in delivering the finest of Kiwi food, and it’s our people in depots and out on the road every day who work vigilantly to ensure the safety and freshness of the product we store or deliver. Our people drive our business, literally!

If you have a great work ethic and want to be a part of a strong team, then come and join us at Hall's. Whilst you won’t be on the road, your energy and focus will be on both forward and day to day planning and dispatch of the transport network to ensure that base run capacity is optimised and where necessary floating/additional capacity is applied in the most cost-effective manner.

What would you be doing?  

  • Understand and take responsibility for the Transport Operations processes, ensuring staff members have the opportunity to succeed in their tasks, create a quality improvement platform, install Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)
  • Leading the Planning & Dispatch team of 10 to be high performing and engaged
  • Ensure team have clear objectives, regular performance reviews and are held accountable for execution of KPIs
  • Drive functional excellence and process improvement within the team and across Operations
  • Understand SOG and POD processes for Hall's, and manage exceptions with company, Owner Operator, and Subcontractors
  • Through effective planning and dispatch processes and controls, ensure that base fleet runs are optimised including the stand down of regular runs where the freight can be accommodated onto other services
  • Collaborate across functions to deliver to business financial targets
  • Work proactively with Transport Operations, Fleet, Network design and Sales
  • In collaboration with Sales, work with customers to understand key business drivers and needs to identify new business opportunities and promote innovative logistics solutions

Qualifications

What you'll need to be brilliant:  

5+ years’ experience within transport industry encompassing:

  • Intimate knowledge of the New Zealand refrigerated freight network
  • Successful background in transport dispatch 
  • People leadership and team development
  • Demonstration of commercial acumen in a transport and/or FMCG environment
  • Experience streamlining and implementing processes
  • Track record in delivering financial / business KPIs
