Job Description

Hagie Manufacturing is seeking a qualified candidate to be part of our Manufacturing Engineering team as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager in Clarion, IA. This position . Manages the manufacturing engineering (ME) functions, products, and processes in assigned unit(s). Oversees ME execution for factory processes or projects and is responsible for support of all current products and/or new product initiatives within the Enterprise Product Delivery Process. Manages human and capital
resources required for meeting product and operational requirements. The work typically meets the following criteria: manages engineering functions in a small or medium size manufacturing location, products/processes are of low to medium complexity; direct reports include ME supervisors or equivalent Individual Contributors; reports to a higher-level Manufacturing Engineering Manager.

 

  • Develops and manages departmental strategic and tactical goals to support unit and divisional goals.
  • Manages departments or teams of engineers and technicians to ensure that processes, current or future products, etc., meet all required standards.
  • Develops, monitors and adjusts project and operating budgets and schedules.
  • Provides work direction and assistance to a group of professional staff, which includes monitoring the progress towards department/project goals, ensuring appropriate resources are available to support department/project initiatives, coaching, and performance management.
  • Leads/drives the development, justification, installation and startup of new processes, machine tools, robots, and facilities consistent with factory or division plans.
  • Ensures that the departments support operations or product development by providing engineering resources to ensure Enterprise Product Delivery Process or Enterprise Order Fulfillment Process goals are met (e.g. safety, quality, cost, schedule, etc.).
  • Identifies current and future manufacturing and technology engineering needs and ensures they are in alignment with the current and future engineering people and tools available.
  • Performs administrative duties related to performance management, salary pay plan, succession planning, resource planning, training, and development of direct report

Qualifications

Technical Skills & Knowledge:

  • Knowledge of capital budgeting and capital equipment justification process. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
  • Background in Engineering (mechanical, electrical, hydraulics, power systems, etc.).  
  • Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing and/or distribution processes, quality, tooling, tool design, total preventative maintenance and facilities.
  •  Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others.
  • Understands the Enterprise Product Delivery Process (EPDP).
  •  Performs more complex functions, understands principles, may teach others. Knowledge of engineering systems, tools and databases.
  •  Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.

Education:

  •  Degree in an Engineering/Technology discipline or equivalent experience. - University Degree (4 years or equivalent)

Relevant Work Experiences

  • Engineering experience. - 4 - 7 years
  • Experience in one or more related engineering areas: industrial, production, methods, reliability, design, manufacturing, warehousing and distribution, quality. - 4 - 7 years
  • Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems. - 1 - 3 years
  • Experience in planning, organizing, and implementing engineering projects. - 
  • Experience with engineering tools, systems and databases. - 4 - 7 years
