Job Description

The IT Systems and Support Analyst provides advanced level (Tier 3) deskside support for problems/inquiries escalated from the service desk and will assist users in the more unique situations requiring a broader knowledge of available hardware and software.  This role will also support the network infrastructure at a basic level to deliver functionality within established processes, this role will work on low complexity infrastructure problems, routine changes, and improvements to existing processes, with review.  May have some interaction with functional business partners on tactical issues and limited contact with suppliers. Receives guidance from the IT Manager. Work and decisions are reviewed by the IT Manager before implementation.

  Essential Functions:

  • Provides user support by troubleshooting and resolving problems for inquiries regarding hardware, software, peripherals, operating systems, security access, anti-virus and other applications that are escalated from the service desk.
  • Provide infrastructure support at a basic level to deliver functionality within established network infrastructure processes.
  •  Installs, configures, supports and upgrades according to business requirements, PC/Laptop hardware and peripherals.

  •  Performs unit specific support as appropriate. This may include duties such as assisting with maintaining and upgrading network devices; identifying and completing personal computer and peripheral upgrade plans that align with Enterprise Desktop standards; interacting with vendors to resolve hardware issues and warranty claims; create localized education material and/or documentation.
  • Performs other related support tasks which may include auditing of PC/Laptop hardware asset/serial numbers, software licenses, testing new application release functionality.
  • Monitors, plans and applies changes to, and/or manages current information technology infrastructure to ensure high availability and optimal performance in an integrated environment.
  • Works on projects that require contact with other Information Technology departments at the unit, division, or enterprise level.
  • Respond to Service Requests via Helpdesk application (ServiceNow), or through the direction of IT Manager.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve day-to-day tickets effectively and efficiently.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of networking concepts and fundamentals. - Has a general understanding of the principles and uses the knowledge with assistance.
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office plus intranet and internet functions. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
  •  Ability to analyze, translate, and define business requirements into technical solutions. - Has a general understanding of the principles and uses the knowledge with assistance.
  • Knowledge and skills necessary to implement, troubleshoot and maintain infrastructure components, i.e., communications, private and public network, network access security, database and information access security, middleware, computing hardware and operating system.
  • Excellence in verbal and written communication forms with emphasis on persuasive communication, tact and negotiation. - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
  • Able to manage many competing priorities/requests in a fast-paced environment - Has a good understanding of the principles and can independently use the knowledge.
  • Able to lift and move computer equipment and peripherals with ease.
  •  Able to work in an elevated position, some work will require the use of a scissors or boom lift.
  •  Information technology experience, including deskside support. - 3 - 5 years
  • Infrastructure exp in one or more components, i.e., communications, private/public network, network access security, database and information access security, middleware, computing hardware, operating system. - 1 - 3 years
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, multitask, and perform job functions under occasional pressure.

 Education:

  •  Degree in an Information Technology discipline or equivalent experience.
