HVAF of Indiana, Inc. provides housing, employment, and basic needs assistance to veterans and families facing homelessness in Central Indiana.  Located in Indianapolis, HVAF serves approximately 1300 families annually and maintains 15 properties.

Job Description

General Summary: A Fleet Coordinator and Safety Assistant is responsible for overseeing the operation and safety of all agency vehicles, drivers, and related assets.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Maintain all HVAF fleet vehicles to a high standard of safety, cleanliness, and appearance.

 

  • Develop a fleet vehicle maintenance schedule and budget. Efficiently coordinate all required repairs in consultation with the VP of Support.

 

  • Register and license all HVAF fleet vehicles.

 

  • Develop a vehicle replacement plan and manage the operational costs and mileage of the vehicles owned or leased by HVAF.

 

  • Coordinate, schedule, and oversee all assigned HVAF Transportation Specialist.

 

  • Coordinate and facilitate all pick-ups and drop-offs requiring the use of HVAF fleet vehicles while maintaining up to date travel logs and reports per the direction of the VP of Support.

 

  • Develop policies based on company requirements, to address vehicle usage, safety, and driver behavior.

 

  • Evaluate and modify operations, determine, and enforce safety protocols, and manage the maintenance and service of fleet vehicles.

 

  • Attend and participate in regular administrative, professional, and operational meetings.

 

  • Assure that all HVAF policies are always observed and adhered to.

 

  • Perform other duties deemed necessary to further the mission of HVAF at the request of the VP of Support.

Qualifications

 Education/Experience/Skills Required

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.

 

  • Must have a valid Indiana Driver’s License and be eligible for HVAF auto insurance at all times during employment per insurance carrier’s requirements.

 

  • Must be able to complete a background screening with an acceptable outcome.

 

  • Ability to lift, move, and organize items up to 50 pounds.

 

  • Ability to work independently with strong problem-solving skills and effectively collaborate with other teams and departments within the agency.

 

  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate.

 

  • Demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.

 

  • Demonstrated strong time management skills and ability to prioritize according to urgency and deadlines.

 

  • Maintain a positive attitude and demeanor in all situations while being cooperative with teammates and customers alike.

 

  • Dedication and commitment to the agency and to helping people.
