Job Description

Based in Matamata and reporting to the Service Manager, this is a varied, hands-on role responsible for the installation, commissioning, servicing, maintenance, and repair of material processing plant and equipment across both workshop and field environments.

You’ll work alongside customers, engineering teams, and suppliers to ensure equipment performs reliably, safely, and to the highest standard. No two days are the same - one day you could be commissioning new crushing plant, the next diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on-site. Key Responsibilities include:

  • Service, repair, and maintain crushing, screening, and material processing equipment
  • Install and commission fixed and mobile plant equipment
  • Diagnose faults and carry out mechanical repairs in workshop and field settings
  • Build strong customer relationships and provide outstanding service support
  • Work collaboratively with the wider service and engineering teams
  • Maintain a strong focus on health, safety, and quality workmanship

Qualifications

You’re a practical, mechanically minded technician who enjoys problem-solving and takes pride in delivering high-quality work. You thrive in fast-paced environments, communicate well with customers, and are motivated by getting equipment back up and running safely and efficiently. Ideally, you’ll Bring

  • A trade qualification in heavy equipment, engineering, diesel mechanics, or fabrication
  • Experience with crushing, screening, quarrying, or material processing equipment
  • Strong mechanical capability, with electrical experience an advantage
  • Sound understanding of health and safety practices
  • Forklift or gantry certification (desirable)
  • The ability to prioritise workloads and work effectively under pressure
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Flexibility to travel and work away from home when required
