Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Plant Engineer to take ownership of the technical care, integrity, and performance of our plant at an upper-tier Major Hazard Facility (MHF). This critical role ensures the plant operates safely, reliably, and in full compliance with statutory and company requirements.
You will lead plant maintenance strategies, manage operating and capital maintenance budgets, oversee plant turnarounds, and act as a key technical resource across the business.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure safe, reliable plant operation by managing major maintenance activities, plant turnarounds, and aging assets
- Plan, prioritise, and manage operating and capital maintenance budgets to deliver cost-effective outcomes
- Oversee the risk-based inspection (RBI) programme, ensuring asset integrity and regulatory compliance
- Fulfil delegated responsibilities under the MHF Safety Management System, including maintenance of safety-critical assets
- Lead and support incident investigations and continuous improvement initiatives
- Plan and deliver small capital projects to improve plant reliability, safety, and economic performance
- Maintain strong working relationships with regulatory bodies (e.g. WorkSafe)
- Ensure compliance with relevant statutory requirements
- Mentor and support production and maintenance teams to build capability and drive plant improvements
- Provide technical expertise to support projects, maintenance, production, and customer support teams
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Process, or Mechanical Engineering
- 5–10 years’ experience in chemical production, plant maintenance, and project management
- Strong understanding of risk-based inspections, asset integrity, and regulatory compliance
- Proven experience managing maintenance budgets and capital works
- Strong problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills
- Team-oriented leader with experience mentoring and developing personnel
- Experience with SAP highly regarded
