Job Description

Reporting to the General Manager – Human Resources, this role provides leadership, support and strategic direction to the company’s health & safety function.  You will be highly visible in this role as you report on H&S compliance, legislation changes and systems improvements to Site Leadership Teams.  Leading a small team of H&S Advisors, you will ensure that safety is kept at the front of everyone’s minds.  You will establish and oversee robust safety training; support injury prevention, management and rehabilitation processes whilst staying abreast of H&S system gaps.

With their Head Office based in Te Puke and sites located across the Bay of Plenty region, they have an opportunity for a seasoned health and safety practitioner, who is passionate about educating others as well as leading the H&S function, to join their team.

 

Qualifications

Ideally tertiary qualified in Health & Safety, to succeed in this role you will have in depth knowledge of all H&S legislation and have relevant experience at a senior level. 

Specifically, you will bring:

  • Experience working in a senior safety position in large/complex organisations, ideally in manufacturing
  • Leadership experience of both a H&S function and a team
  • A strategic approach to implementing H&S strategies and translating them into practical business plans
  • In depth understanding of NZ legislative requirements in occupational health and safety
  • Proven influencing and consultation skills to enable engagement internally and externally
  • Strong computer literacy, file management and H&S system experience
