With their Head Office based in Hamilton and site offices located in two other North Island centres, they have an opportunity for a seasoned health and safety practitioner, who is passionate about educating others as well as leading the H&S function, to join their team.

Job Description

The role works closely with those across the business but also contractors; subcontractors ad suppliers.   

The Health & Safety Manager, reporting to the CEO and as part of the senior leadership team, will assist in the development of the H&S strategic plan and drive delivery of the operational plans throughout the business. You will lead a broad range of safety programmes and identify and implement initiatives which build a culture of safety across all work sites.

On a day-to-day basis you will be involved in maintaining and analysing data; risk registers as well as OFI and Non-Conformance registers; investigations; corrective and preventative actions; reporting; subcontractor management; audits and inductions. You will be visible in the business as you build relationships with all internal and external stakeholders and be a coach and key influencer at all levels in the organisation.

Qualifications

Ideally tertiary qualified, to succeed in this role you will have in depth knowledge of all H&S legislation and have relevant experience at a senior level. 

Specifically, you will bring:

  • A recognised health & safety qualification
  • Safety audit experience
  • A minimum of 3-5 years’ experience leading health & safety
  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to the way you work
  • The desire to work closely with others to drive a strong safety awareness
  • In depth understanding of NZ legislative requirements in occupational health and safety
  • Proven influencing and consultation skills to enable engagement internally and externally
  • Strong computer literacy, file management and H&S system experience

Additional Information

This role attracts an excellent remuneration package including a vehicle and health insurance.  There is a requirement for regular travel throughout the sites and an occasional overnight stay.
