Job Description

As the Legal Counsel at H&M, you provide legal guidance that enables, protects, and supports the H&M Group by advising on regulatory matters, negotiating and reviewing agreements, and ensuring compliance with global legal standards. You assess risks, manage contracts, and deliver clear legal support across the business, including training teams in relevant legal areas. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO
Legal Strategy & Standards 

  • You set and enforce legal standards, templates and strategies. 
  • You stay up to date and understand global legal requirements and standards and support your market to achieve these. 
  • You constantly improve our contracts so that we are safeguarded in the best possible way. 
  • Meet legal objectives – ensuring regulatory compliance whilst securing business aims. 

Contract Management & Risk Handling 

  • You negotiate, draft and review various agreements, including lease agreements. 
  • You conduct judicial enquiries and due diligence and identify and analyze any risks and consequences associated hereto. 
  • You support tendering processes etc. 
  • You handle and settle disputes. 
  • You set and implement routines and the way of working for execution, handling and administration of contracts and ensure it is done in the correct way.

Cross‑Functional Legal Support

  • Assist Sales Market Controllers/Account Manager in corporate matters including drafting corporate documentation and governance policies/guidelines. 

WHO YOU ARE
You are a skilled and analytical Legal Counsel with strong judgement, excellent communication abilities, and the capability to translate complex legal requirements into clear, practical guidance. You work methodically and collaboratively, balancing regulatory compliance with business needs while supporting stakeholders through confident advice and structured decision‑making. 

  • University degree in Legal.
  • 3–5 years of legal experience, ideally with experience in leasing or real estate (meriting but not required).
  • The ability to lead and coach a team, to manage and inspire team members 
  • Exceptional communication skills both verbally and in writing with Expansion leadership team, outside counsel and opposing counsel. 
  • Understanding of risk assessment and ability to articulate associated consequences to decision makers 
  • Comfortable with decision-making, even in ambiguous circumstances and tight timelines 
  • Ability to work as a team member with non-lawyers and in teams with a wide variety of experience and levels of qualification.
