Job Description

WHAT YOU’LL DO 

As a Accounting Expert you will ensure that the financial operations of the organization are well-managed, compliant and transparent, contributing to overall business success according to H&M rules and local regulations. 

You will:

  • Oversee the management of remaining accounts payable and accounts receivable processes, while staying up to date with changes in local requirements and accounting standards.
  • Ensure accurate and timely preparation of financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements.
  • Review journal entries, reconcile accounts, oversee fixed asset accounting, and verify the accuracy of financial transactions while monitoring the general ledger for discrepancies.
  • Establish, maintain, and enforce appropriate accounting methods, policies, principles, and backup procedures for all finance‑related operations.
  • Provide financial insights, support decision‑making, and contribute to projects and initiatives with financial implications.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow, perform cash flow forecasting, and ensure adequate liquidity in line with H&M financial policy.
  • Ensure timely and accurate corporate tax and VAT declarations, payments, and year‑end corporate tax calculations.
  • Ensure compliance with accounting principles by staying updated on GAAP, IFRS, and local regulatory requirements and adapting procedures accordingly.
  • Coordinate and support statutory, customs, and tax audits, providing recommendations, improving procedures, and ensuring timely resolution of audit findings.
  • Implement and follow internal control procedures to safeguard assets, prevent fraud, and ensure accurate, transparent, and compliant financial reporting.

WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH 

You will be a collaborative and supportive team player who coaches, helps, and enables others to succeed. You naturally build cross‑functional networks and strong working relationships. You will work closely with local accounting seniors in PL/HU/CZ/SK, ensuring effective cross‑collaboration with the shared service center. In addition, you will collaborate with other accounting managers, seniors, and experts across countries within the HUB East Europe.

WHO YOU ARE 

We are looking for people with:

  • 5 years of experience in accounting, preferably in retail business or a similar sector (FMCG).
  • Practical experience in preparing and securing accurate tax reporting, including:
  1. Annual CIT calculations
  2. Monthly VAT returns and corrections
  3. Key tax and statutory reporting such as MDR, WHT, PSD, IFT‑2R, and TPR
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken.
  • Strong knowledge of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance, with a preference for a master’s degree combined with equivalent experience in accounting.

  • Proficient in accounting software, preferably SAP and Trintech Cadency
  • Confident and able to communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders
  • Structured – proactive in planning operational activities to ensure calendar deadlines
  • A problem-solver who can tackle challenging problems

This is a full-time role, based on a local contract in Warsaw, Poland. The Accounting Expert in part of Accounting department and reports to the Accounting Manager PL/HU/CZ/SK.
