Job Description

As Engineering Manager, you will lead engineers in an engineering area and have formal staff responsibility for several Engineering talents. You are responsible for building a strong engineering culture designing a Community of Practices for your area and enabling and securing strong organizational health by ensuring that you plan for both deliveries as well as competence development. Within your area, you will be responsible for recruiting, staffing, and retaining talents including having a healthy mix of consultants and employees in appropriate tech locations. As Engineering Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that the team can staff initiative in an efficient way according to set goals – with a healthy work/life balance. 

The EM would play a pivotal role in driving the tech landscape aligning top talent to help our product team to achieve their business objective through exceptional quality and delivery of products. 

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Acting as the employer's extended arm to follow and implement H&M Group’s vision, goal, strategies, values, policies, and processes, as well as acting as an ambassador, representing the management internally and externally.
  • Leading and steering an area with Software Engineers for a set of technology, software, or platform development. 
  • Supporting your organization’s employee development 
  • Set objectives and inspire team members based on specific competence needs.
  • Performance management and salary reviews 
  • Stay compliant with laws and policies, and act, when necessary, in regard to e.g., underperformance, work environment, rehab cases, etc.
  • Recognize progress towards ambition and goal and required growth.
  • Budget responsibility for FTE & FTC budget 
  • Building a strong organizational health, role & competence development 
  • Recruitment and retention strategy for talents 
  • To establish a continuous learning & development activity within your area and contribute to an outside-in vision for competence development.
  • Stakeholder management 
  • Ensuring that your teams have a healthy mix of consultants and employees in the appropriate tech locations. 

YOU HAVE:

  • 10 + years as a technology leader using & implementing modern technology in complex organizations at scale.
  • Experience in front-end development.
  • 2 + years of experience in managing a team of Software engineers.
  • Great stakeholder management skills and collaboration across business units 
  • Interested in developing people and building an extraordinary engineering culture.
  • Sound financial and forecasting skills and experience handling resource allocation budgets. 
  • Proven experience in building successful communities of practice.
  • Cultivate trust and empower others to both responsibilities, dare to fail, learn, and grow.
  • Strong interpersonal, collaborative, and communication skills. 
  • Ability and credibility to lead and guide both in-house and third-party teams. 
  • Outstanding troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving abilities

Please note: As our culture and teamwork are very important to us, four days (80%) per week of in-office presence in our office are required.
