This leadership role belongs to the Retail Experience unit in the Concept Development department. The mission of the Retail Experience at Commercial Development & Growth is to grow and transform the portfolio by building exceptional store experiences, securing high productivity, financial resilience and a strong brand. This is done through holistic retail strategies, fueled by tech innovation and enabled through our global network of teams and partners.
Job Description
As the Concept Development Manager you will be a strategic leader, responsible for setting the direction and developing innovative formats and store concepts to drive sales productivity in line with our brand direction.
Your main responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Set the direction for our store concept/formats including interior and components, based on the brief from Creative Development department.
- Lead the team who design and develop commercial, functional and sustainable interior, product and architectural design solutions for our stores - in line with set investment targets and project timelines.
- Develop an insight driven approach to format development, based upon test and commercial learnings.
- Drive store concept and format development, implementation and evaluation.
- Plan and drive store development projects across units.
- Responsible for leading, motivating and developing a team of architects, interior & layout designers as well as concept developers and project managers.
- Assuring high-quality deliveries of design and retail concepts by assuring the team has the right resources and competences to deliver goals and business needs for H&M.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you are a values-driven leader with an extensive background in Architecture and Design, and/or experience in developing commercial store concepts or leading broad development agendas, as well as having a strong commercial understanding. You have a proven track record of successfully leading creative high-performing teams and managing change effectively.
We are looking for people with:
- Experience working in a management role within the area of Architecture and Design, or other relevant area of expertise. Documented experience of working with the development of conceptual ideas within architecture and interior design based on brand's DNA & identity, and other creative briefs.
- Previous proven and documented experience from leading creative teams and competences, or extensive development projects, including developing, coaching and managing people to help them reach their full potential and best result.
- Knowledge and experience from the industry of retail architecture and design and is able to effectively strategize based on parameters such as industry trends, competitor landscape and internal business needs and opportunities.
- Design thinking and agile processes tools and templates.
- Minimum B.Sc. within relevant field of studies, i.e. Architecture & Design or Interior Design, Business, Engineering or equivalent working experience.

- A strong ability to lead in a creative environment, i.e. inspiration and creative height and width, creative processes and tools.
- Comprehensive project management skills and abilities to manage complex collaboration and stakeholder structures.
- Strong commercial understanding.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills
