Job Description

We are looking for a Buyer to start up a new Regional Assortment team for Menswear in India.

The team will consist of a Buyer and a Designer, responsible for using our global assortment as base and in strong collaboration with Product-teams in Stockholm, optimize the biggest and best products from global while also creating commercial and locally relevant products unique for India. The team will focus mainly on Menswear collection with some extended responsibility for both men/women on local India shoes and jewellery. Besides the core-assortment intended for our physical and digital store, you will in this role also lead & guide the local team currently optimizing our locally produced speed-buying for our marketplaces. 

As Buyer – Local Relevance you will lead the Regional Assortment team for Menswear in India, setting the overall strategy but also working hands-on with product development and together with suppliers.  Together with the merchandise team you will feed global with input on top orders and driving categories, quantification and seasonality as well as being in charge for the planning of the local products. This role gives a great opportunity to drive business full circle, in the intersection between assortment building, production and sales.


Key responsibilities include: 

  • Secure best product at the best price, at the right time, in the right quantity with a local relevance focus across all channels, both in store and online
  • Responsible to identify gaps in the global assortment, and act upon that discovery trough defining locally relevant assortment and planning local relevance product drops
  • Together with counterparts in global product-teams as well as merchandising, set a strategy for tweak & removal from global assortment to enable better sell-through and right seasonality
  • Set and execute a local assortment strategy that defines current & commercial fashion in line with the global assortment directions 
  • Utilize customer, fashion, and selling insights to develop the best locally relevant customer offer
  • Responsible for product development and order placement of local relevance drops in line with AO’s overall strategy.
  • Responsible to ensure capacity, flexibility, profitability, and sustainability
  • Responsible to ensure the local market-place speed-assortment is in line with our overall AO strategy by guiding and education the local team in H&Ms way of working.
  • Empower and lead the team to collaborate, role modelling the H&M values
  • Ensure a strong collaboration with stakeholders in Region, Customer Groups and Production.

Qualifications

We are looking for you with the below skills & experiences :

  • Degree in textile, fashion or equivalent, preferably working as a Product Manager or a senior strategic Buyer today.
  • In depth knowledge of the fashion and/or retail industry and a sense of style and trends relevant to the target customer (s)
  • Customer centric mindset with clear understanding of the target customer (s)
  • Proven track record in creating current, commercial, and profitable products,
  • Strong in commercial assortment building and salesmanship
  • Omni-channel knowledge and focus
  • Strong strategic ability, collaboration and communication skills
  • Proven leadership experience and skills
  • English fluency

This is a full-time position based at the Support Office in Bangalore, Karnataka, India.
