We are now looking for a Competence Lead for our Software Engineers within our External and New Sales Channel Area in the Customer Domain.

The External and New Sales Channel Area’s mission is to extend our customer reach by opening our assets to new and external sales channels. We do this in close collaboration with multiple teams across several areas within Business Tech, and functions such as Omni Expansion that is out outside of Business Tech.

As a Competence Lead, you are a key enabler, ensuring that employees have the best possible circumstances to develop and grow, as well as providing servant leadership. This role entails both contributing operationally as a Software Engineer as well as to lead Software Engineers in their competence area. Our colleagues are our most valuable asset and when we grow our colleagues, we grow our business.

What you will do

Being a Competence Lead for Software Engineers means that you have a dual focus, including both staff responsibility and contributing operationally within your product team. By contributing with your own delivery, you have a clear connection with the ongoing business to remain a relevant speaking partner for the employees. Your tasks include performance review, salary reviews and other staff-related activities. You will support, coach, and help your employees grow and develop as well as work in close collaboration with Product Owners other competence leads and Software Engineers when it comes to recruiting new employees and workforce planning. You will work in an agile team, with the responsibility for creating and designing solutions that fulfil our customers' shopping experience. Some of your daily work includes:

  • Work with professional software engineering practices & best practices for the full software development life cycle
  • Translate product strategy and requirement into suitable, maintainable and scalable solution design
  • Collaborate closely with the product owner and other cross-functional teams, share best practices as well as discuss and motivate design solutions

Who you are

As a Competence Lead  Software Engineer at H&M Group you will embark on a journey that will lead to something new and exciting - we will test, fail and learn. For the Competence Lead assignment, we are looking for someone who has demonstrated potential for the leadership we aspire for within Business Tech. Previous experience from leadership and staff responsibility is of merit, but not required.

You are an important player in this transformation, and so we believe you are communicative, flexible, stress-resistant, and able to work in an environment that is not fully formalized. You have previous experience from working in large companies with many stakeholders, you have worked with distributed teams, with integration platforms and you know how to translate business requirements and visualize technical roadmaps. We also believe that you have:

  • Deep knowledge of integration principles and integration solutions
  • Familiar with APIs and Event-driven Architecture and how to implement this on a large scale in an Enterprise
  • Deep understanding of public cloud technologies (Azure as GCP primary, AWS also relevant)
  • Programming skills (Java, .net)
  • Experience in Cloud and Ci/CD practices
  • Driven and curious with the passion to learn
  • Ability to translate needs and pains into re-usable and automated solutions that create value
  • Great communications skills with a strong ability to simplify the complex and make things tangible

You will also…
In addition to your Software Engineer duties, you should be responsible for acting as the employer's extended arm – to follow and implement H&M Group's vision, goals, strategies, values, policies, and processes, as well as acting as an ambassador, representing the management internally and externally. Furthermore, you will:

  • Give constructive feedback and strive to shorten the feedback loops
  • Support teams employees’ development, through continuous dialogue
  • Manage and perform salary review for the employees
  • Be compliant with laws and policies, and act when necessary in regard to e.g., underperformance, work environment, rehab cases, etc.
  • Take part in the recruitment process for new employees
