Job Description

As Senior Accountant you are responsible for generating and ensuring timely and accurate reporting of store P&L, updating & reconciliation of stock balance and store cash flow management (“store routines”). You keep the books correct, up to date and according to local and group regulations while supporting the Accounting manager in guaranteeing tax and other compliance matters are secured.

Some of the key responsibilities of this role:

Book keeping

  • Carry out and/or oversee the: monthly, quarterly and yearly cut  
  • Initiate carry out and/or review: General ledger bookings
  • Bank & cash flow reconciliation  
  • Stock bookings and intercompany transactions   
  • Carry out routines for lease accounting matters with expansion team
  • Report to Accounting manager when necessary   
  • Carry out other balance sheet reconciliations where necessary   

Store routines

  • Initiate and oversee periodic store reconciliations to guarantee accuracy and timeliness of store P&L results  
  • Initiate and oversee routine for store stock bookings 
  • Initiate and oversee periodic reconciliation of store cash flows   

Compliance

  • Carry out annual tax reconciliations for GST, corporate tax and employment taxes wherever necessary   
  • Report to Accounting manager when necessary   
  • Carry out end of year external audit and statutory reporting   (including IFRS 16 lease bookings)
  • Carry out reporting to external legal bodies (e.g. ABS) 

Qualifications

Apart from the below listed attributes, you will be a commercially savvy team player who is open minded and willing to learn and take on challenges. You will be a self-starter with a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and thrive under pressure.

  • CA/CPA qualified with a minimum of 5 years accounting experience
  • SAP (highly favourable)
  • Excel (intermediate to advanced –can do minimum pivot tables and vlookups)
  • Strong communication skills
  • Currently in or close to a senior accountant role
  • Retail industry experience
  • Detail oriented while being able to see the big picture and keep things simple.
  • Strong organizational, time-management and interpersonal skills.
  • An interest in working in a dynamic team and fast paced environment.

This is a full-time position based in Sydney, Australia.
