Job Description

If so, this could be the role for you! We are looking for a Sub-Editor to join our Brand & Communications team. The role will report into the Copy Manager and is offered on a full time permanent contract.

As the COS sub-editor, you will ensure all product copy descriptions are strong, accurate, free from grammatical and spelling errors and reflective of the COS tone of voice and style. You will also be responsible for ensuring the size, fit and fabric compositions are correct for each item. Though product copy will be your main focus, you will also spend time sub-editing category copy and ad-hoc marketing and brand copy such as emails.

What you will do:

  • Sub-edit all product copy ensuring it is strong and reflects the COS tone of voice and style guide; working to tight daily deadlines to check accuracy of copy against images, as well grammar, spelling and formatting
  • QA and maintain quality of copy on the product and department landing pages with regular quality checks 
  • Reduce return rates through accurate information on size and fit
  • Enhance the customer journey and experience, ensuring clear language across our product pages
  • Lead improvement initiatives and identify ways to optimise and evolve our product copy to reduce returns 
  • Proofreading marketing copy such as emails, homepage and articles for the COS magazine to ensure strong flow and written style
  • Manage the E-com copywriters including their performance and career progression
  • Work with the senior E-com copywriter to oversee the product copy process and set deadlines to ensure content is uploaded, translated, and published in a timely fashion
  • Collaborate with colleagues across the Brand and Communications department to ensure tone of voice and copy is within the COS world
  • Updating live copy with amend requests from E-commerce teams and Buyers
  • Liaise with E-commerce team & Business Tech to enhance layouts for readability and functionality
  • Build strong relationships with our collection teams to identify the USPs of our products  
  • Own the house style guide ensuring it is up to date and that the team are aware of any changes 

Qualifications

  • You have a strong proofreading and subbing background in a fashion environment
  • Excellent grammar skills and ability to adapt to house style
  • Sound knowledge of fashion and SEO 
  • Excellent organisation and communication skills  
  • Experience managing or mentoring writers
