Design Capability Manager, Brand Services

Brand Services pioneer customer-centric ways of working inside the H&M Group. We enable our brands to move faster and stay relentlessly customer-focused by running frontrunning initiatives in many different areas of our business. We believe design-led innovation in cross-functional teams create superior customer value quicker and de-risks our biggest bets. We make strategies tangible and to bring transformative ideas to life from discovery all the way out through delivery. The function consists of cross-functional design teams, and many virtual team members across our collaborative network. We love to have fun, we work in the open and are always in draft.   Together we learn, create, test and ship ideas at a high pace in the journey towards meaningful growth. 

Job Description

As a Design Capability Manager at Brand Services, your job is to make sure that Brand Services designers have the best possible circumstances to develop and grow, as well as providing a servant leadership to promote and empower autonomous teams. We are looking for a forward-thinking leader with a passion for bringing innovative, exciting and sustainable ideas to life. You will have the opportunity to co-create the standards in our design culture, team development, design toolbox, and help elevate our design function internally and externally. You are a resilient changemaker who can help find the path in white space environments and push priorities forward. You respond positively to feedback and are able to stay optimistic and bounce back quickly when faced with setbacks and resistance. You enjoy running projects from beginning to end and can help build a highly efficient and impactful design organization. 

Your responsibilities:

  • Staff responsible/competence lead for a growing team of skilled designers, support hiring and onboarding. 
  • Developing others: Coach designers in a way that enables them to grow professionally and increase their performance. 
  • Build capability: enable our design teams through trainings, learning journeys, playbooks, community of practice, set up learning programs also for our partnering brands and functions. 
  • Weekly design direction and senior stakeholder management for one of the innovation teams. 
  • Innovation & creating: Co- develop design guidelines to ensure quality across all deliveries. 

Qualifications

  • Has 4–7 years of experience leading designers in an internal or external creative agency, or consulting environment.
  • Experience working directly as a designer or other user experience role.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, communication skills, and thriving ​in ​a ​cross-functional ​setting.  
  • Passionate to work on ambiguous and complex future challenges. 
  • Equipped with a collaborative and empathetic mindset.  
  • Strong knowledge of design and user research tools, methods, and processes.
