Overall Job Function: Responsible for acquiring customers, engaging customers and optimizing customer behavior for H&M’s digital business. Grow the digital business by driving the best customer experience across H&M’s website and mobile application. Lead the strategy, site merchandising and development of our customer experience at H&M.  Through collaboration and cross functional partnership with our Marketing, PR, and Omni Merchandising teams, ensure that we are providing our customer with an optimal shopping experience that drives sales for the business.

Job Description

A Corporate Communications Specialist is responsible for supporting the Corporate Communications Manager in advancing H&M’s brand reputation in the U.S. Working cross-functionally, the Corporate Communications Specialist will play an important role in increasing visibility for key corporate topics including sustainability, Inclusion and Diversity, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business and Tech Innovation among external stakeholders.  This role requires strong writing skills as a key qualification and will also support crisis communications, proactive media relations and the drafting of messaging documents and press materials.

 

This position is based in NY, NY within our Communications and Public Relations Function, and reports to our Corporate Communications Manager.

 

Core Responsibilities includes but is not limited to:

  • Supports Corporate Communications Manager in the development and implementation of integrated 360-degree communications strategies to raise H&M’s corporate profile in the U.S.
  • Responsible for H&M’s local media picture, including having an in-depth knowledge of the local media landscape and establishing strong relationships with important corporate fashion and regional press
  • Supports in the development and execution of external and internal crisis communications strategy and responses
  • Supports in the development and execution of external sustainability communication strategy
  • Work with and provide support to the Internal Communications team including message creation and /or review, as well as overall strategy alignment

·       Possesses a keen understanding of industry trends, media conversations and cultural moments to find new storytelling opportunities that build H&M’s brand relevance and complement fashion press strategies and commercial initiatives

·       Work cross-functionally to drive communications efforts across corporate topics including Inclusion and Diversity, Corporate Social Responsibility, Business and Tech Innovation, Leadership and HR initiatives

  • Serve as point of contact for information flow between Communications and Customer Service teams
  • Works with the Corporate Communications Manager on the development of corporate press releases and position statements for both internal and external communications
  • Works with the Corporate Communications Manager on the creation and / or review of all external and internal press releases, messaging and strategies, including fashion, sustainability, labor relations, inclusion and diversity, CSR, expansion, crisis and HR/employer branding
  • Enhance visibility/positive image and reputation of H&M, while promoting consistency in tone and message content for the US market

·       Maintain the US Media Relations inbox, making sure all inquiries are addressed within 24 hours and the appropriate parties are informed of any and all requests

  • Drive proactive media relations to generate positive coverage of H&M in business, financial, sustainability and consumer press

·       Works with Corporate Communications and Sustainability Managers to build external relationships with thought leaders/stakeholders/media to grow industry awareness and stakeholder relationships

·       Responsible for the development of Corporate and Sustainability calendar of events such as opportunities for conferences, speaking opportunities, industry events

·       Manage the research, outreach and submissions for key industry awards and honors

  • Assist in media outreach to leverage local community relations and social responsibility projects
  • Works with the Corporate Communications Manager on the development and execution of corporate and sustainability messaging and learning sessions for wider Communications team

·       Manage in the development and creation of all media reporting and presentations for department including weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports

  • Develops and maintains H&M corporate and sustainability media lists and provides business media analysis as requested 
  • Manage any relevant budgets, adhering to all accounting policies set forth by controlling including billing, tracking, reconciling, AP, etc.

Qualifications

What You’ll Need to Succeed:

·        BS in Communications, Marketing, or relevant field

·        Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in corporate communications or media relations

·       Proven strategic planning, media relations and issues/crisis management skills

·       Strong communicator with ability to negotiate, persuade and counsel effectively

·       Great interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with all levels of management as well as with people from a variety of cultural backgrounds

·       Strong organizational and time management skills

·       Established relationships with fashion, corporate and sustainability media

·       Ability create and maintain strong relationships with corporate media

·       Excellent writing and editing skills

·       Must be able to travel 20% of the year for corporate events
