We are now looking for Concept Developers to the team Store Design within Retail Space. You will join a highly ambitious team with a great drive to transform our physical stores of the H&M Brand.

Retail is undergoing major changes, therefore our physical stores become even more important. To make sure we are in the fore front of this change the new function Retail Space has been established within H&M Brand to own and drive the overall agenda. The mission is to transform our physical stores into to a modern, relevant and unique shopping experience that drive sales and profit as well as builds the brand. Retail Space consists of the teams Format Development, Format Piloting, Test & Analysis, and H&M Store Design.

The Concept Developer will work in a highly collaborative and cross functional setting and is creatively responsible for specific interior development projects ranging from full store format developments to development of specific components or updates in existing stores. With the goal to offer our customers an emotional and inspiring store experience, charge our products, tell the story about us and our collections and give the customers the full experience of the brand. This through developing the embodiment of the Brand Identity, based on the Brand DNA, into a unique, modern and relevant physical experience for all our store formats.

Your responsibilities

  • Drive creative direction in specific projects
  • Develop the outline/base for design concepts, mood boards and creative briefs based on our Brand DNA & Identity
  • Drive the creative work in a specific project towards the multi brand/external creatives within Expansion and/or external agencies
  • Be responsible for all interior design layers, i.e. architecture, interior design, functionality and flexibility needs and layout
  • Drive close cross-functional collaboration with other functions to develop and improve the store experience
  • Drive a close collaboration with our five Business Units to drive the agenda for each Business Unit, still holding together the full house
  • Effectively plan and follow up on creative deliveries, coach and give feedback when necessary in a constructive and inspiring way
  • Follow up and evaluate implementations done by Expansion in the markets (in new and existing stores)
  • Strengthen and empower the creative teams through an inspiring, empathic and visionary leadership

Your background and skills

  • 5+ years’ experience in strategic retail concept development roles and experience of brand conceptualization, i.e. translating Brand DNA/Identity into design direction and strategy for physical space and store formats
  • Experience of leading creative teams in various types of retail development projects, i.e. full program development, specific departments and features as well as upkeeping projects etc.
  • Knowledge and experience within construction techniques, engineering and industrial production
  • Proven experience in creating both an inspiring and functional retail space to drive customer traffic, conversion and average purchase, whilst at the same time laying a strong foundation for efficient operations and facility management
  • Ability to transfer ideas into reality and ensure long term meanings and implications in line with an overall vision and strategy
  • Full proficiency in English, both verbal and written
