Do you want to do your MSc-thesis with H&M AI foundation team that is designing and implementing next generation AI platforms that impacts hundreds of millions of customers worldwide? 

If the answer is yes, you have the possibility to work with our AI platform experts in close collaboration with data scientists and machine learning engineers in related use cases. This will give you valuable insights into how machine learning works at scale inside one of the biggest fashion retail companies in the world! 

You will also have the opportunity to work on cutting edge tech stack that includes open source technologies, e.g., Python, PySpark, Apache Airflow, Docker, etc., as well as Microsoft Azure services, e.g., Kubernetes, Databricks, and Datalake, etc.

What do we want to solve?

At H&M, we run thousands of cloud-native machine learning jobs. Each job is designed as a graph of tasks that perform machine learning activities, e.g., feature engineering, model training, hyper-parameter tuning, etc. The amount of CPU and memory needed to run each task vary based on scenarios that represent combinations of locations, time durations, and garment groups or customer segments. In this thesis, you will design and implement a scheduler for machine learning jobs that dynamically allocates computation resource like CPU and memory to tasks according to their scenario profile.

Where do we work?

We aim to work on premise in Stockholm, but this is subject to the guidelines of the Public Health Agency of Sweden for Covid-19.

Kravspecifikation

Who are we looking for?

A great problem solver who:

- is studying computer science, software engineering, or similar
- has experience in Python and cloud technologies
- has experience in data intensive computing and/or machine learning at least through coursework
- is a self-driven team player and happy to swim in the deep end
- is creative and collaborative
- is fluent in English

It is a bonus, if the candidate:

• has previous working experience in Python programming

• has experience with Docker, Kubernetes, and Apache Airflow

• has code on Github or similar
