Job Description

The Distribution Manager leads the strategy of inventory organization and supply chain management. This position is instrumental in the logistics and process flow within the warehousing facility. Utilizing various tools and technology, the position manages people, processes, and systems to ensure goods are received, stored, managed and dispatched appropriately, and that productivity targets are met. The position collaborates both internally with our employees and externally with our carriers and customers to achieve common goals.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 

  • Directs, plans, and coordinates warehouse storage, receiving and distribution operations.
  • Lead a team of associates, through performance management and career development.
  • Lead development and implementation of warehouse strategies, including policies, procedures and goals.
  • Evaluate equipment and facility upgrades to support continuous improvement.
  • Develop innovative programs to continuously improve cost, quality, and service.
  • Collaborate with external business partners such as vendors, carriers and other service providers.
  • Assigns team tasks such as loading trucks, unloading trucks, organization, stock transfers, administrative activities, cycle counts and cleaning as necessary.
  • Communicates distribution and activities to various stakeholders to ensure availability of fresh and frozen product and to control departmental expenses.
  • Leads monthly cycle counting process.
  • Ensures adherence to all personnel safety and food safety requirements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from four-year college or university or five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 3+ years of supervisory experience.
  • Excellent communication and team building skills.
  • Experience in a warehouse or distribution center a plus.
  • Comprehends documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Technology proficiency, especially in the areas of CMS, ERP, and related systems.

Most assigned work is normally performed in a climate-controlled office environment. Periodic visits to operations areas are necessary with exposure to variety of temperatures and prevailing weather conditions. Some climbing is required.
