Job Description
Guzman Y Gomez is seeking a dynamic and results-driven Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team at our Mount Barker location in Australia. In this role, you will support the Restaurant Manager in delivering exceptional dining experiences while maintaining operational excellence. You will play a key role in leading our team, ensuring customer satisfaction, and driving the success of our restaurant through effective management and strong leadership.
- Assist the Restaurant Manager in overseeing daily restaurant operations and ensuring smooth service delivery
- Supervise, train, and motivate restaurant staff to maintain high performance standards and deliver outstanding customer service
- Manage staff scheduling, time-off requests, and ensure adequate coverage during all shifts
- Monitor food quality, presentation, and adherence to food safety standards and company protocols
- Handle cash management, process transactions, and reconcile daily financial reports
- Maintain inventory levels, coordinate stock ordering, and minimize waste through effective inventory management
- Address customer concerns and complaints professionally and promptly to ensure customer satisfaction
- Perform opening and closing procedures, including facility checks and security protocols
- Analyze operational metrics and provide feedback to improve efficiency and profitability
- Support the implementation of restaurant policies, procedures, and company initiatives
- Collaborate with kitchen and front-of-house teams to optimize workflow and service quality
Qualifications
- Proven experience in restaurant or hospitality management, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or assistant management role
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to motivate and develop staff
- Excellent customer service orientation and interpersonal skills
- Proficiency in point-of-sale (POS) systems and restaurant management software
- Solid understanding of food safety standards, health codes, and restaurant compliance requirements
- Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency in cash handling and basic financial reporting
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written
- Problem-solving abilities and conflict resolution skills
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required
- Preferred: Experience with inventory management systems and restaurant cost control
- Preferred: Knowledge of food and beverage operations and menu management
