Job Description

About the Role:

As a Health Economics and Outcomes Research (HEOR) Intern in the Real World Evidence department, you will play a vital role in our mission to fight cancer through data. Working in a collaborative and fast-paced environment, you will interact with experts from various fields beyond including health economics, epidemiology, medical affairs, and market access, to develop value propositions for tools that meaningfully improve cancer management and prevention. Your work will involve economic modeling, data analysis, and contributions to impactful research. This internship offers a unique opportunity to make a real difference in the field of HEOR, using your skills to drive our mission forward.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate cross-functionally to gather and analyze data relevant to economic modeling in the field of oncology diagnostics.

  • Conduct targeted literature reviews.

  • Develop and refine health economic decision-analytic models to assess the cost-effectiveness and clinical impact of our tests.

  • Utilize advanced data analysis techniques to support the creation of robust economic models.

  • Contribute to research projects that aim to publish findings in conference abstracts or manuscripts.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Master's or PhD program in Health Economics, Health Services Research, Statistics, Biostatistics, Mathematics, Decision Science, Management Science, Operations Research or a related field.

  • Strong analytical and quantitative skills, with proficiency in data analysis and modeling.

  • Experience conducting targeted literature reviews.

  • Experience building health economic models in Excel and/or R.

  • Experience conducting outcomes studies using SAS and/or R.

  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.

  • A genuine interest in health economics and outcomes research.

  • Proven ability to synthesize complex information and present findings clearly.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience building health economics models for diagnostic tests in oncology.

Additional Information

Hybrid Work Model: At Guardant Health, we have defined days for in-person/onsite collaboration and work-from-home days for individual-focused time. All U.S. employees who live within 50 miles of a Guardant facility will be required to be onsite on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays. We have found aligning our scheduled in-office days allows our teams to do the best work and creates the focused thinking time our innovative work requires. At Guardant, our work model has created flexibility for better work-life balance while keeping teams connected to advance our science for our patients.

For positions based in Palo Alto, CA or Redwood City, CA, the hourly range for this full-time position is Undergraduate $29/hr., Graduate $34/hr., and Doctorate $42/hr. The range does not include benefits and, if applicable, overtime, bonus, commission, or equity.

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. If you are selected to move forward, the recruiting team will provide details specific to the factors above.

Employee may be required to lift routine office supplies and use office equipment. Majority of the work is performed in a desk/office environment; however, there may be exposure to high noise levels, fumes, and biohazard material in the laboratory environment. Ability to sit for extended periods of time.
