Job Description

Position Summary:

  • The primary role of the Medical Advisor is to facilitate the generation of relevant medical evidence to support Guardant AMEA products and to instil confidence among health care providers, payers, and internal stakeholders regarding the use of Guardant AMEA products.
  • Medical Advisor will identify clinical evidence gaps and identify and support opportunities for internal and external clinical research of Guardant AMEA products that are aligned with corporate goals and adhere to local compliance standards.
  • Medical Advisor will review and coordinate proposals for investigator sponsored research from disease area experts within the region, present such proposals for review at internal meetings, and facilitate operational processes for the successful completion of approved projects, including, when appropriate, interpretation and review of scientific content (abstracts, posters, presentations, manuscripts) for public dissemination by the investigators.
  • Medical Advisor will develop and execute the plan for educating health care providers, including leading disease area experts, by creating, updating, and sharing the most current educational materials supporting the clinical value of our products.
  • Medical Advisor is responsible for prioritization of leading experts and clinical centres as it relates to the education plan; this includes identifying influential content experts, leaders of scientific committees within academic research groups, and members of relevant treatment and diagnostic guideline committees.
  • Medical Advisor will be effective at translating data from research projects and disseminating key information through publications, presentations at national or regional meetings, CME events, and other educational activities.
  • Medical Advisor will engage leading disease area experts in speaking engagements to educate academic and community-based health care professionals. This is completed through direct education of experts with slides, abstracts and publications relevant to Guardant AMEA products and services, participating in the development and creation of educational slides to be deployed in focused events (such as round table discussions, medical seminars, or Continuing Medical Education (CME) lectures), training speakers/educators, and identifying opportunities for collaboration on relevant research projects and other projects of mutual interest.
  • Medical Advisor will develop knowledge of the company’s products and their potential role within the priority disease areas defined in the medical strategy.
  • In collaboration with Client Services, the Medical Advisor will support health care providers regarding the appropriate interpretation of clinical reports generated as part of Guardant AMEA products.
  • The Medical Advisor will provide medical educational support to internal Guardant AMEA  teams and, as needed, medical support for regulatory, reimbursement, and business development activities to meet corporate goals.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Put the needs of patients first and adhere to all relevant ethical, regulatory, and compliance standards in the execution of daily work.
  • Train internal employees and distributors on processes, policies and clinical information related to the company’s products
  • Identify, develop and/or maintain strong, collaborative working relationships with leading academic physicians to promote understanding and adoption of our novel diagnostic technologies.
  • Identify and support disease area experts for presentations at scientific forums such as specialty society meetings, round table seminars, and scientific meetings at targeted institutions.
  • Critically review and develop educational materials based on emerging data relevant to Guardant AMEA products
  • Facilitate meetings and opportunities for scientific and clinical discussions between leading experts and Guardant AMEA senior staff, including focus groups, public relations events, working meetings, and scientific forums.
  • For clinical studies, develop (company sponsored) or review (investigator sponsored) concept and work with Medical Affairs staff and investigators to optimize the design of study proposals that fall within strategy. Review, interpret, and communicate emerging data, study enrollment and overall study timelines. Implement risk mitigation plans when needed. Ensure that clinical trials sponsored or supported by the company are conducted in accordance with applicable regulatory and compliance requirements. Assist with data analysis, writing and review for abstracts and publications.
  • Function as a clinical resource to the Commercial & Marketing teams with participation in medical updates, scientific presentations, journal clubs, teleconferences, and meetings. Provide critical medical review of promotional materials.
  • Expect to travel for work in the AMEA region 50% of time. (In compliance with government regulations)

 

Qualifications

  • MD or MBBS with oncology experience or PhD in oncology related research fields
  • Clinical expertise or related experience in oncology or genetics is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in Oncology Medical affairs
  • Demonstration of collaboration with experts at academic medical centers
  • Willingness to work at all levels and cross-functionally to support team goals.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, time management, and personal
  • initiative.
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written English communication skills.

Additional Information

Work Environment:

  • Travel 50% of the time, dependent on government travel regulations, and occasionally up to 5 days within a week, to meet with experts, and attend physician education talks and conferences. Some weekend work will be necessary but is not regularly required.
  • Must be physically able to handle extensive travel in vehicle, plane, or other modes of public transport.
  • Requires the ability to focus on multiple tasks simultaneously and to work in a high-paced, high energy environment.
