Job Description

The Strategic Alliance Manager, Business Development is a hybrid role, requiring strong and seasoned Alliance Management and Business Development skills to be fully dedicated and supporting one of Guardant’s Key BioPharma Accounts. 

In this role, you will serve as the primary point of contact for the Client to maintain an effective, productive and successful business relationship for clinical trial services and Companion Diagnostic collaborations.


From an Alliance Management perspective: you will manage governance of the master agreements such as Joint Project Teams/Committees and you will be Guardant’s Chair of the Joint Steering Committee.  Together with Project Management, you help to drive fulfillment of the business partnership, program, project activities, obligations and commitments. You will create bridges between Guardant and the Client whilst also removing barriers and allowing the project to move forward according to the Project Schedule. 


From a Business Development perspective: you will initiate, organize and drive activities to identify and explore opportunities to expand the volume of collaboration with this Client such as establishing new project agreements to develop, register, manufacture and commercialize companion diagnostics and clinical trial services in parallel with the client’s precision medicine programs. You will build the financial models to support the business cases and project schedules for new projects and you will develop and maintain a roadmap of all current and potential projects to maintain a healthy, growing pipeline, communicating it effectively amongst Guardant’s cross functions to permit the appropriate demand forecasting.
 

To be successful in this role you will need to understand and effectively engage a wide range of internal and external functional areas including IP & Legal, Finance, R&D, Medical and Regulatory Affairs, Operations, Sales & Marketing and Project Management. 

Qualifications

You will have worked in or with biopharma, sequencing or clinical diagnostic organizations, ideally a combination of all three. 

You are independent and self-starting but also work with the team to bring the best of the company to a Client. 

You have a deep understanding of biopharma, oncology, diagnostics, genomics and clinical trials. You are well versed in the science as well as understand the competitive landscape. 

You are able to tease apart Client needs and motivations and can successfully influence them. You have strong presentation skills, are good at problem solving and have a good analytical skillset too.  

You see the woods through the trees, anticipate and intercept issues on the horizon and are able to prioritize and focus on the important, not just the urgent.

In addition, you bring:

- BA or BS, and an advanced degree, MBA or PhD

- 8+ years pharma/diagnostics/CRO business development experience

- NGS and companion diagnostic experience is a distinct advantage

- The ability to travel up to 50% including internationally
