We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Wastewater Operator to join our team in the Kawartha Lakes region.
Job Description
The Opportunity
This is not an entry-level position. We are looking for a seasoned wastewater professional who can confidently operate, troubleshoot, and optimize municipal wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems while providing leadership and technical guidance to less experienced operators.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate and maintain wastewater treatment facilities and collection systems
- Monitor plant performance and process control parameters to ensure regulatory compliance
- Conduct process adjustments, troubleshooting, and operational optimization
- Perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and minor repairs
- Review operational data and laboratory results
- Complete operational records and compliance reports
- Respond to alarms and emergency situations
- Support on-call operations rotation
- Assist with inspections and audits
- Provide mentorship and technical support to junior operators
- Support SCADA monitoring and troubleshooting
Qualifications
Qualifications
- Valid Ontario Wastewater Treatment Operator Licence
- Minimum 5 years of progressive wastewater operations experience
- Strong knowledge of wastewater regulations and compliance requirements
- Experience with process monitoring and reporting
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting abilities
- Ability to work independently
- Valid Class G Driver's Licence
Strongly Preferred: Wastewater Level II, III, or IV certification; Collection System Licence; supervisory experience; SCADA experience.
Highly Desirable Asset: Drinking Water Certification (OIT, Level I, or higher). Candidates with both wastewater and water certifications will receive strong consideration.
