Job Description

We are currently seeking a talented and dedicated professional to fill the new role of Training Advisor with Canam Group Inc.

Within our multidisciplinary teams, the successful candidate will have the mandate to contribute to the effective creation, deployment and adoption of our Training programs, which include:

  • Develop, deliver and update internal training materials and sessions, utilizing adult learning practices, to support the implementation of new and existing courses and programs;
  • Consult with stakeholders to conduct needs assessments and shape solutions to achieve learning outcomes and desired behaviours, maximizing the value of formal training efforts or using alternative approaches when better suited;
  • Lead collaboration efforts with subject matter experts and small work teams/committees to develop training content, materials and scripts;
  • Support employees and foster adoption of training solutions, within the Steel Manufacturing facility;
  • Participate in the team's continuous improvement processes;
  • Ensure compliance of safe work practices and health and safety legislations, Canam policies and procedures;
  • Maintain safety certifications and training in accordance with company policies;
  • Attend and actively participate in facility EHS meetings and forums that will drive employee involvement;
  • Support the Health & Safety and Human Resources Managers, as required.

Qualifications

As a member of our Team, you will possess:

  • Minimum of two (2) years of applicable experience; with a combination of education (Degree or Certificate program in occupational health or safety, human resources, or other relevant field) and hands-on knowledge in training content development, technical writing and communications;
  • Proven organizational skills, high level of detail orientation, ability to multitask and prioritize conflicting deadlines;
  • An analytical mind, with the ability to quickly acquire new knowledge and excellent information-seeking skills;
  • Demonstrated ability to transform technical content in to visually engaging and audience focused training tools;
  • Proficiency in working with eLearning management systems and software, as well as the aptitude to learn and support new applications;
  • Experience with ESL (English Second Language) training and coaching;
  • Superior English verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills (tact, diplomacy, influence, etc.);
  • French language skills would be considered an asset;
  • Service-Orientation: Ready to go the extra mile for your colleagues;
  • Problem Solving: Hustles to find a solution; willing to roll up their sleeves to get the job done;
  • Communication: Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in many mediums, including the ability to follow directions and provide feedback while remaining pleasant and articulate;
  • Flexibility: Ability to react quickly to changing business conditions. Someone who can change gears and adapt as required. Must be able to adjust schedules for evening and weekend training if required.

Additional Information

Physical Demands:
The ability to stand for long periods is essential with extensive walking and occasional sitting.  The nature of the position will require the candidate to perform a wide range of tasks, both hands-on in the production facility and within an office environment.

Work Environment:
Working safely is a condition of employment at Canam. General office and constant exposure to computer display. Safety PPE (personal protective equipment) must be worn while in the production facility (steel-toed safety boots, safety glasses, etc.) Daily interaction with production site personnel, managers and other team members.
