Job Description

Support Canam Bridges US in all accounting and finance-related activities. Specifically, the Controller is responsible for strategic planning, cost accounting, financial closing and reporting, fixed asset accounting, inventory management, revenue recognition and invoicing, and related activities.

Essential Functions

  • Responsible for all accounting/finance duties. 
  • Maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze financial reports and monitor results versus budget.
  • Conduct monthly job cost/project results with operations management.
  • Disseminate operating and financial reports and information to individuals or departments for use in management and control of company operations.
  • Maintain financial and job cost accounting systems.
  • Reconcile inventories on a monthly basis and analyze inventories for potential and obsolete inventory items.
  • Manage periodic physical inventory accounts.
  • Review labor reporting and cost, material costs, and manufacturing overhead.
  • Effectively communicate policies, procedures, reports, and responsibilities.
  • Prepare capital and operational budgets at the site level.
  • Provide support and information requested by corporate sales and income tax managers.
  • Provide all information requested by internal and external auditors.
  • Support the analytical needs of the plant.
  • Maintain a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Supervise plant support staff in various areas to including, but not limited to purchasing and inventory.
  • Perform other job duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or business administration.
  • Seven (7+) years of mid/senior management accounting responsibility. 
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license preferred.
  • Plant/manufacturing experience preferred.
  • SAP experience is preferred.
  • Computer skills to include:G Suite or MS Excel and Word. 
  • Excellent communication skills, verbal and written
  • Lean/continuous improvement experience highly valued.

Regularly required to sit, occasionally stands and walks, use hands and fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands and arms. Regularly required to talk or hear. Seldom lift and/or move up to 30 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

Work Environment:
General office and constant exposure to computer display. Occasional interaction with production employees in the fabrication facility. Occasional travel to customer work sites or other locations for training.

Canam Lean Innovation  
Support the Canam Lean Initiative through active engagement and participation in continuous process improvement projects based in Lean Manufacturing Principles.

Participate in training and continuing education events to develop a working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles and build a consistent “Lean Way of Thinking”.

Assist in the collection of data, participate in Kaizen workshops and contribute to the implementation of solutions, replicate successful improvements, share lessons learned and provide feedback on opportunities for change that will further the continuous improvement process.
