Canam Group specializes in designing and fabricating metal components for the North American construction industry. The Company is active in the sectors of buildings and infrastructure. Responsible for ensuring compliance with contract requirements and the quality control plan. Inspects structures, equipment, engineering hardware, parts and materials. Documents any discrepancies and assures proper disposition. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Plans and formulates inspection plans. Directs the activities for assigned work unit to ensure compliance with contractual requirements. Determines work schedules, priorities and work assignments of subordinates.

• Determines quality assurance methodology and techniques to be used in inspecting and testing systems or materials. Conducts quality assurance audits and prepares reports to document findings.

• Coordinates with other work units to accomplish assigned work. Advises other managers on status of work. Interfaces and acts as a liaison with customers, contractors and suppliers. Reviews and recommends changes and/or resolves technical problems.

• Provides technical and operational support and/or services to ensure quality assurance standards are met in providing support to various project tasks. Develops reports and papers on the progress and status of assigned projects. Develops corrective actions to support task problems and failures.

• Prepares or coordinates the preparation of quality assurance reports, requirements, etc., in response to requests for proposals, quotes, brochures, manuals, etc. May review quality assurance program plans, proposals and inspection plans.

• Performs various administrative activities for assigned unit, including approving time sheets and vacation requests, preparing performance appraisals and planning new work systems and methods.

• Supervises Quality Control Supervisors and/or administrative employees.

• Performs other job duties as assigned by supervisor

• HS Diploma (Engineering Degree is strongly preferred)

• 5 to 10 years of Quality Experience

• Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) 

• 5 years or more of progressive management skills (10 years preferred)

• UT and RT Level III are preferred 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The ability to stand continuously is essential with occasional walking and sitting. The nature of the position will require the employee to perform a wide range of physical activities ranging from pushing and pulling, lifting and carrying heavy objects (50 lbs) to climbing, crouching, kneeling, bending and handling.

Canam Lean Innovation  

Support the Canam Lean Initiative through active engagement and participation in continuous process improvement projects based in Lean Manufacturing Principles.

Participate in training and continuing education events to develop a working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing Principles and build a consistent “Lean Way of Thinking”.

Assist in the collection of data, participate in Kaizen workshops and contribute to the implementation of solutions, replicate successful improvements, share lessons learned and provide feedback on opportunities for change that will further the continuous improvement process.
