We are seeking a Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow to join a dynamic multidisciplinary research program focused on improving prevention, acute care and recovery outcomes for children experiencing burns and trauma. The successful candidate will contribute to high-quality research spanning clinical studies, implementation science and health services research, working closely with clinicians, consumers, researchers and policy stakeholders to improve outcomes for children and families.
Depending on experience, appointments may be made at either the Research Fellow or Senior Research Fellow level.
As a Research Fellow, you will:
- Conduct and coordinate research activities that contribute to externally funded research programs focused on paediatric injury and burn care
- Design and undertake clinical, implementation and health services research projects, including clinical trials and cohort studies
- Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with clinicians, researchers, consumers and policy stakeholders
- Contribute to competitive research funding applications and develop a strong publication record
- Lead the preparation of publications, presentations, policy briefs and research reports
- Support co-design, stakeholder engagement, knowledge translation and implementation activities
- Manage research projects to achieve outcomes within agreed timelines, budgets and reporting requirements
- Assist with the supervision and mentoring of higher degree research candidates, research assistants and project staff.
As a Senior Research Fellow, you will:
- Lead components of externally funded research programs in paediatric injury and burn care
- Design and oversee clinical trials, cohort studies and implementation research projects
- Drive interdisciplinary collaborations with clinicians, health services and policy partners
- Develop and lead competitive research grant applications, including NHMRC and MRFF funding schemes
- Contribute to strategic research development within the School of Nursing and Midwifery and Griffith Health
- Lead the production of high-impact publications, reports, policy briefs and conference presentations
- Drive stakeholder engagement, co-design and knowledge translation initiatives to maximise research impact
- Provide supervision and mentoring to higher degree research candidates, postdoctoral fellows and research staff
- Manage multi-site research projects and provide leadership within collaborative research teams.
This is a fixed term (two year), full-time position primarily based in Brisbane at the Queensland Children's Hospital. As Griffith is a multi-site university, you may be required to work across other locations.
Griffith University's sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.
Salary Range
Research Fellow
The full-time equivalent base salary will be $91,705 - $139,031 per annum plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $107,295 - $162,667 per annum.
Senior Research Fellow
The full-time equivalent base salary will be $143,418 - $165,374 per annum plus 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be in the range $167,799 - $193,487 per annum.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will bring a passion for improving child health outcomes through collaborative, high-quality research and a commitment to translating evidence into practice.
You will also have:
- A PhD in nursing, public health, psychology, epidemiology, emergency medicine, or another relevant health discipline
- Demonstrated experience undertaking health or clinical research in a relevant field
- Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to work effectively with clinicians, researchers, consumers and community partners
- Experience contributing to research publications and competitive funding applications
- Excellent communication, project management and organisational skills.
In addition, Senior Research Fellow candidates will demonstrate:
- Significant postdoctoral research experience and a record of research leadership
- A strong track record of securing or contributing to competitive research funding
- Experience leading complex research projects and multidisciplinary collaborations
- Proven ability to supervise, mentor and develop researchers across career stages
- A sustained record of high-quality publications and research impact.
