This is an exciting opportunity to join Griffith Library's Academic Engagement Services team. 

You will help Griffith researchers and Higher Degree Research (HDR) candidates to excel through the provision of integrated, high-impact researcher support services. 

We are seeking two dynamic and proactive Discipline Librarians to join our Researcher Services team to support researchers and HDR candidates respectively from Griffith’s Business School and Griffith’s Sciences Group.

Job Description

Join our supportive and dedicated Researcher Services team! 

As a Discipline Librarian reporting to the Coordinator Researcher Services, you will: 

  • Foster collaborative relationships across the Academic Engagement Services team, the wider Library portfolio, and with key university entities including the Office for Research, eResearch, and Griffith Graduate Research School.
  • Work closely with your colleagues and with other teams across the Library to provide advice to researchers and HDR candidates on topics such as working with literature, scholarly publishing, researcher profiles and metrics and working with data.  
  • Develop and evaluate effectiveness of researcher training workshops and eLearning resources. 
  • Provide discipline-relevant scholarly information via consultation services with researchers and HDR candidates.  

The role involves interacting face-to-face and virtually with academic staff and students. As such, you will be innovative, open-minded, approachable, collaborative, and have excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills

About you  

  • Qualifications in librarianship, information management or equivalent.
  • Experience in an academic or research library, and an understanding of the evolving research environment within universities.
  • Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering workshops and delivering online consultations is desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of supporting systematic-style literature reviews, scholarly publishing, researcher profiles and metrics.
  • Experience with use of research technologies and research literature focused AI tools.
  • Good communication skills with strong client support, teaching, eLearning resource creation, and problem-solving skills. 
  • You will be comfortable operating in a rapidly changing environment. Being flexible, open-minded, approachable, collaborative, well-organised and having a strong teamwork ethic is vital.
  • You will be committed to a focus on continuous improvement.  

What we can offer 

Two continuing full-time Discipline Librarian roles:  

 

  • Discipline Librarian, Researcher Services (Business) 
  • Discipline Librarian, Researcher Services (Science) 

The full time equivalent base salary will be HEW Level 7: $104,504 – $113,219 p.a. + 17% superannuation. The total FTE package will be $122,270 – $132,466 per annum.

Your primary campus location can be based at either Brisbane South (Nathan) or Gold Coast. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.
