Job Description

Key Responsibilities 

As a Maintenance Supervisor, you’ll take on complex operational challenges and lead a skilled team to ensure our buildings and infrastructure remain safe, compliant, and fit for purpose. Here’s how you’ll make it matter:

  • Oversee the delivery of corrective maintenance programs using the University’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and aligned with performance benchmarks.

  • Lead, mentor and support trade staff, building capability, maintaining required certifications, and fostering a culture of accountability, safety, and continuous improvement.

  • Analyse maintenance and asset performance data to identify trends, drive operational improvements, and enhance asset lifecycle outcomes.

  • Coordinate emergency maintenance responses, alarms, and after-hours call-outs to ensure business continuity and minimise operational disruption.

  • Partner with Engineering, Capital Works & Minor Projects and corporate stakeholders to support commissioning, infrastructure upgrades, and initiatives that improve energy efficiency and sustainability.

This role is critical in maintaining the reliability, safety, and performance of Griffith’s campus infrastructure and ensuring high-quality service delivery to staff, students and visitors.

You will also have:

  • Relevant qualifications and hands-on experience in mechanical or electrical building services, with practical knowledge across both disciplines.

  • Strong leadership capability, including experience supervising trade or technical teams in complex operational environments.

  • Demonstrated knowledge of building systems, asset management, and maintenance best practice within large or multi-site organisations.

  • Sound understanding of workplace health and safety, environmental standards, and compliance obligations in facilities or construction settings.

  • A collaborative and proactive approach, with the ability to build strong relationships and influence stakeholders across diverse teams.

This is a full time, fixed term position for 6 months based at the Brisbane South (Nathan) campus. As Griffith is a multi-site University you may be required to work across other locations.

Griffith University’s sites are located on the lands of the Yugarabul, Yuggera, Jagera, Turrbal, Yugambeh and Kombumerri peoples.

Salary 
HEW 7 - Base range is $104,504.60 - $113,219.43 + 17% super. Full package range - $122,270.38 - $132,466.72.
